This song was created from a lyrical gust of inspiration I had in reaction to my most current loved one. I knew it had to have a '50s style sound and structure. When I created a rough idea, my friend told me it sounded like a malt shop and then got dark, and then sounded like a malt shop again. Anyway, my girlfriend and I had gone on a trip to an ice cream parlor/brewery where we indulged in a stout beer float. I couldn't believe how appropriately this nostalgic memory fit with the theme of the song. The establishment was called "Bluebird" on capital hill in Seattle. Since that is already a Paul McCartney song, the developing title structure lead me to calling it "Song of the Bluebird".
